Elan Wayne Thunderfeet’s debut novel series will help launch the trashpunk genre. It is the evolution of cyberpunk while also providing contemporary reflections on the relationship between life, technology, and the environment.
The Fall of Decadence is set in a desolate wasteland of broken, rotting, and rusted items. It follows a species of rodent humanoids that struggle to survive amid the refuse and the oppressive power systems that dominate the world.
In particular, it tells the story of Gaareth as he seeks to find a place of safety, and meaning within this decaying landscape.
The Fall of Decadence was born out of the lack of belonging and hope that Elan and many others felt when they looked at the state of the Earth. Even though the themes that it explores are heavy and the world it is set in is bleak, it is ultimately a tale of resilience, change, and what it means to build a community with a shared purpose.
